Chicago is known for some wonderful examples of architecture for some, some of the best in the nation. Some of the places of interest are historical architectural examples, and some are more modern. You can take tours in Chicago to venture all over the city looking at popular places, and you can even take guided tours of certain buildings. There are those attractions that are housed in historic buildings that used to serve a much different purpose, too.
What you could do is get to know some of the best architectural art in Chicago, and then you can start deciding which places you want to visit on your own. You have surely at least heard his name before, and you most certainly want to see some of his work while visiting Chicago.
One place you might want to visit is The Rookery. The Rookery is located at 209 La Salle Street, and it is a building in the financial district of Chicago. Even if you just see the outside of the building and the lobby, you get the experience. The lobby is said to be quite marvelous, as is the facade of the building’s exterior. This is one Frank Loyd Wright work of art that you want to see.
The Emil Bach House is also an important piece of architecture in Chicago, located at 7415 North Sheridan Road. You can chill outside in the garden, visit the Japanese tea room and much more. The Japanese tea room is said by reviewers to actually be in the side yard. There is an event called Open Chicago, and The Emil Bach House is said to be a great place to visit during the event.
Holy Name Cathedral is the next example of great architecture in Chicago, and you will find this church at 735 North State Street. While you are in the area, you can attend mass if you like, or you can just check out the buiding and its beauty. When my family and I went to New York, we went by St Paul’s Cathedral while mass was going on at the time. It was a really neat experience.
Have you heard of the Garfield Park Conservatory? This conservatory is located at 300 North Central Park Avenue, and it is a pleasant place to visit all year round according to the reviews. William LeBaron Jenney is the person that designed the park, so now you know a little more about this particular place of interest.
